Pinkney’s music has taken him to many renowned venues all over the world that included New York’s Madison Square Gardens , BBC’s ‘Top Of The Pops’, Las Vegas, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Canada, South America, Central America, and Europe. He has appeared in three full-length movies: “Smile Orange;” “Land of Look Behind;” and “Holyland;” which was filmed on location in Israel.
Dwight Pinkney’s debut instrumental album, Jamaican Memories by the Score, won two prestigious awards — Jamaica Federation of Musicians Union (JFMU) Award and Reggae-Soca Music Award in Florida US. The album was also voted best Reggae Instrumental Release, by UK Tower Records ‘TOP’ magazine. Pinkney’s CD “Jamaican Memories…” is also a feature in Air Jamaica’s In-flight music program. The result of this success has Pinkney doing numerous appearances on radio, television, and live shows throughout Jamaica, USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and he has been featured, nationwide, in the United States of America on BET’s “Jazz In the Sun.”
Pinkney has to date recorded 4 more classic instrumental albums which includes “ All Occasions” ; “More Jamaican Memories”; “Home Grown Jamaican” and the latest is “ Pinkney Picks Marley Melodies” his tribute to the Reggae Icon. In addition to being very busy in the studios Pinkney have found time to appear with his DP Band on some major shows that includes Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival , Rebel Salute, Prime Minister Ball where he along with his former group Zap-Pow received the Prime Ministers award for outstanding contribution to Jamaican Music. Pinkney also performed at the historic APPOLLO Theatre in New York City, where he also received Award of honour from IRAWMA International Reggae and World Music.
Pinkney is a member of JAVAA (Jamaica Association Of Vintage Artist and Affiliates} an organization through which he is able to give back to the less fortunate of the faternity and share some of the blessings and experiences afforded him in his career.
Pinkney as always is currently working on a new album which should be out for his fans in the fall.
